The State Key Laboratory of Mechanical Transmission
The State Key Laboratory of Mechanical Transmission is applied fundamental research base and high-level talents fostering base in the mechanical transmission and its relative fields founded by state. The Laboratory has build up leading experimental conditions and research environment in mechanical transmission field in China after two investment constructions by state and matching investment by the University. It can support related applied fundamental research work and has become a high-level academic research institute that is well-known both at home and abroad and exerts certain influence internationally.
The Laboratory Academic Committee comprises 13 well-known experts. Academician Hu Zhenghuan, the professor of University of Science & Technology Beijing, takes the post of honorary director; academician Li Peigen, the president of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, assumes the office of director; Professor Qin Datong and Wang Jiaxu of Chongqing University assumes the office of associate director. The Laboratory organizes Academic Consultation & Guide Committee, in which academician Wen Shizhu, the professor of Tsinghua University takes on the post of honorary director; academician Zhong Jue of Central South University assumes the office of director, while academician Lu Bingheng of Xi'an Jiaotong University, professor Huang Zhongming, the vice-president of Chongqing University, the office of associate director.
The Laboratory has undertaken 13 state key tasks, 16 projects included in 863 Project, 4 key projects sponsored by State Natural Science Fund, 49 general projects, and more than 300 projects such as Ford-NSFC China Development Fund Project, international collaborative projects with EU, state military projects and projects entrusted by enterprises. The Laboratory has made a series of achievements in mechanical transmission and its relative fields that are leading in China and advanced in the world. Because of these achievements, the laboratory obtained 2 prizes (one for second and one for third prize) of State Invention Award, 6 National Prizes (second prize and third prize) for Progress in Science and Technology, 15 first prizes, over 60 second and third prizes for scientific and technological achievements at province- and ministry-level, more than 100 patents for invention, and published more than 20 special publications and more than 2000 papers, among which more than 400 papers are included into SCI, EI and ISTP. The Laboratory has cultivated more than 150 doctors, 300 masters and 23 post-doctoral researchers from the station.
